Myanmar [Burmese] Artists | Min Kyaw

Min Kyaw was born in 1966 in Myike Lett, Irrawaddy, Myanmar. He was educated in the traditional system of apprenticeship and has trained under masters and mentors such as U Naing Win, U Shwe Daung and U Ye Myint. Formerly, a skilled impressionist painter, Min Kyaw fed his hunger for artistic experimentation by creating paintings via the dripping technique through the acrylic on canvas medium. This has given his paintings a unique presentation of traditional subjects such as cityscapes and landscapes. The drips in the paintings create an illusion of buildings melting down, a symbolism of traditions giving way to modernity. Min Kyaw has exhibited widely in group exhibitions and solo exhibitions throughout Myanmar since 1985, and continues to do so.
